Stainless Steel Scrap
Stainless steel scrap is recovered from corrosion-resistant steel alloys. Alloy and form affect how a lot is graded.
Grades and trade descriptions
- 304
- A common grade in food equipment, kitchen fittings and general fabrication.
- 316 and 316L
- Molybdenum-bearing grades found in some marine and chemical-processing equipment. 316L is the low-carbon variant.
- 430
- A ferritic grade found in some appliance panels and trim.
Where it comes from
Kitchen and food-equipment manufacturing produces sheet and tube offcuts. Machine shops generate turnings. Industrial maintenance and dismantling can yield used tanks, pipe and fittings. Keep known grades and turnings separate.
